Any person may request access to the following categories of information held by Cartello: Personal information of employees, customers, and vendors; Financial information of the company; Marketing and sales information of the company; Intellectual property information of the company.
Procedures to Request Information:
Requests for access to information must be made in writing, in accordance with the prescribed form set out in Annexure B of PAIA. The request must contain the following information: Sufficient particulars to enable Cartello to identify the record(s) requested; The form of access required; The requester’s contact details; Any other information required by law. The request must be addressed to the information officer and can be delivered by hand, post, fax, or email.
Fees for Access to Information:
The following fees may be charged for access to information: R50 for the first hour of search and retrieval time; R25 for each subsequent hour or part of an hour of search and retrieval time; R1.10 per photocopy of an A4-size page or part thereof; R2.20 per photocopy of an A3-size page or part thereof; R6.10 per photocopy of a plan.
Decision on Request for Access to Information:
Cartello will provide the requester with a written notice of its decision within 30 days of receipt of the request. If the request is granted, the requester will be informed of the applicable fees and payment must be made before access to the information is granted. If the request is refused, the notice must include reasons for the refusal and the procedures for lodging an internal appeal or an application to the Information Regulator.
